Drew Allbritten

Drew W. Allbritten was an American Civil War reenactor for nearly two decades. He portrayed a young, semi-literate Union soldier; and was involved in dozens of battle scenarios and in scores of living history events.

During a fifty-year career, Dr Drew W. Allbritten was a reforming leader in education and public service. He specialized in leadership and governance development, economic and community development, and in education and training at the local, state, national and international levels. He was the 2021 recipient of the American Association for Adult & Continuing Education’s Outstanding Service Medallion (for Lifetime Achievement in advancing the profession).

Drew was a State Legislator and a Presidential Appointee in the Reagan Administration. He also advised officials in other Administrations and served as CEO for non-profit organizations. He has taught and advised South Pacific leaders on a variety of issues related to Public Administration at the University of the South Pacific and Fiji National University. Drew continues to mentor former colleagues and students. He is an advocate for civil rights, social justice and environmental efforts.

Drew has an earned doctorate from Western Michigan University; and most of his professional papers and publications are archived at the Bird Library’s Adult Education Special Collections section at Syracuse University (NY). He does some gardening, playing competitive pétanque, and traveling internationally. Drew now lives in an old village in southern France with his wife and their miniature cockapoo.
