Sheryl Jones

From the Author: I was born and raised in the Flint Hills of eastern Kansas. I loved tramping through the woods with my father and writing about it afterwards. And I loved to read! My mother belonged to the Book of the Month Club and purchased the Book of Knowledge from a traveling salesman. I would read the fairy tales and other interesting tidbits to my little sister, Judy, usually after listening to our favorite after school radio shows: “Batman,” “The Lone Ranger,” “Superman,” “Buster Brown,” and the “Green Hornet.” I wrote my first story when I was eight and have never stopped. I taught writing for twenty-three years and hope some of my love of the written word rubbed off on one or two of those students. My husband, Don, is my best editor and fan. My sister, Judy, wonders why I am not rich and famous. My sister, Debbie, illustrates the children’s books I write for Sea Turtle, Inc. in South Padre, Texas. And all those stories my father told me about growing up on a ranch in Oklahoma encouraged me write the Rowdy Stories and to apply for membership in the Cherokee Nation, and I’m proud to say I am now a member of that nation.

In addition, I am very proud of my grandson Pfc. Erik K. Jones, 82nd Airborne, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.
