Charlie Romine

Charlie Romine was born in 1924 in Granite City, Illinois --- a steel mill town on the Mississippi River. After his father's death in 1925, his mother took a full-time job. Charlie boarded with relatives in Granite City and Rolla, Missouri, his father's birthplace.

Charlie joined the Marine Corps in 1942 and served during World War II and Korea. He was awarded a meritorious commission to second lieutenant and achieved the rank of major. He left the Corps for several years during the late forties and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering. Mr. Romine has recently passed away.
